Description

Color: Blue; Brown; Green; Red; White A color postcard of a winter scene in Azusa, ca. 1915. From left to right across the foreground are many rows of orange trees. Across the background are scattered trees and a few buildings. Some of the structures have red roofs. Also across the background are the snow-covered San Gabriel Mountains and a blue sky. Across the top of the back is the symbol of the publisher, Newman Post Card Co., the words "POST CARD," and a square box for stamp placement that also indicates postage rates. The name of the publisher is also at the left of the center. Also at the center is a brief description of the scene, which was taken at the El Rancho Grande orange grove. The grove, which was a stop on a trip called Tally-Ho, offered by Tilton's Trolley Trip, supplied citrus to the Harvey Railway System. The price of the trip, lunch information for the New Foot Hill Inn, and the location of the sightseeing company, which was located in the Pacific Electric Depot, are also included. All of the printing on the back is in brown ink. With some abrasions, light creases, some foxing, and light surface soiling, the artifact is in fair condition.
