Description

Color: Black; White A firearms and firearms supplies catalog issued by the B. H. Dyas Company, Los Angeles, ca. 1920. The front cover of the softcover 54-page artifact has a photograph of a hunter standing by a lake with a rifle in his right hand and a dead deer slung over his shoulders. At the top is a motto: "'California's Most Interesting Store,'" while in a box at the bottom right is the company name and location of business. On the back cover is a photograph of a hunter shooting birds on the shore of a lake. The motto and box with the company name and place of business are in the same location as those on the front cover. A statement on prices and a guarantee are on the inside front cover. Because mention is made of the rise in prices since the "great world's war," the estimated date is 1920, though it may be 1919. An introduction of the catalog, which is sixteenth in the series, is on the next page, followed by terms of sale and information on shipping. Product descriptions are from page three and include model numbers; features; prices; and line drawings of the items. Firearms include hammerless guns; autoloading, repeating and self-loading shotguns; repeating, air and regular rifles; automatic pistols; revolvers; derringers; and water pistols. Accessories include ammunition; sights; silencers; loading tools; cases and cleaning supplies. Other products sold include hunting knives; axes; decoys; and manuals. There are some creases on the cover with a corner dogeared at the back left, but the pages are fine and the artifact is in good condition/
