"B. R. Baumgardt and Co.'s Tourists' Guide Book to South California" George Wharton James (Los Angeles, B. R. Baumgardt and Co.,) 1895 [copyright 1894.] The item is a detailed travelogue, well illustrated with photographs and maps, of southern California, covering the region of nine counties in twenty-seven chapters. There is some history included, as well as description of industry, irrigation, agriculture, and other aspects. At the rear is a fold out map of Los Angeles with advertising and a tract map for a subdivision on the reverse. With the wrappers barely held on with tape and much wear, creases, soiling, and a loose binding, though pages are clean, the condition is poor overall.Lexicon
