2011.51.1.1Description
A snapshot photograph, "Josephine Scott at Rancho de Los Tres Hermanos," 16 September 1925. The image shows Ms. Scott astride a horse next to a road on the ranch and there are cattle off in the distance near some bare hills. Scott was the daughter of William Benjamin Scott, one of the "three brothers" or "tres hermanos" (along with William R. Rowland and Harry Chandler) who bought, in 194, the 2,500 acre ranch in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties in present-day Diamond Bar and Chino Hills. Ms. Scott later married banker Roy Crocker and took ownership of the Soto-Sanchez Adobe in Montebello, which her father had purchased, and in 1972 deeded the adobe to that city. The title and date are inscribed in ink on the reverse by original owner Pauline Hoffman Herd. With some light soiling, the condition is good.
