Description

Color: Black; Blue; Green; Red; White; Yellow "Better Homes & Gardens," December 1928 issue, published by the Meredith Publishing Company. The front cover has the date and cost at the top with the title in large letters below. A color image of a parlor or living room decorated for Christmas and featuring an arm chair with ottoman, parlor table, fireplace with neoclassical mantel, area rug, open window, and a painting on the wall over the fireplace encompasses most of the cover. The publisher's name and location are at the bottom. The back cover has an advertisement from a flour company. There are many articles in the publication touching on interior decoration, gardening, cooking, architecture, music, children, and material for the Christmas holiday. The work is heavily illustrated with drawings and photographs and there are many advertisements related to domestic life. In poor condition, the periodical has cover dents, surface soiling, losses on two corners, pest damage on the front, stains, and tears; overall wear; a musty smell; and rusty staples.
