Description

Color: Black; Green; Red; White; Yellow "Better Homes & Gardens," November 1928 issue, published by the Meredith Publishing Company. The front cover has the date and cost at the top with the title in large letters below. A color image of a young girl sitting on the arm of a chair and looking out a window with a vase of large sunflowers on the windowledge encompasses most of the cover. At the bottom is the statement "MORE THAN 1,100,000 CIRCULATION" and the publisher's name and location are at the bottom. The back cover has an advertisement from a rug and carpet company. There are many articles in the publication touching on interior decoration, gardening, cooking, architecture, and material for the Thaksgiving and Christmas holidays. The work is heavily illustrated with drawings and photographs and there are many advertisements related to domestic life. On page 53 there is an advertisment for Johns-Manville Asbestocel which was a pipe covering. The image shows a tattooed arm plumber covering a pipe. In poor condition, the periodical has wear on the cover; creases throughout; dented corners; surface soiling on the cover; pest damage to the spine, which is nearly separated, cover, and pages; a musty smell; stains on the cover; and rusted staples.
