Description

BEVERLY HILLS STREET MAP WITH KEY TO STARS' HOMES Color: Black; White "Street Map of Beverly Hills and Key Map to the Homes of the Motion Picture Stars," published by Geo. E. Read, Inc., 1926. The front panel, when the map is folded, has the name at the top, a logo for the company at the center, and the name and address of the company at the bottom. On the reverse are photos of three celebrity-owned homes and buildings. When the map is opened in thirds, there are three photos of celebrity-owned structures, including a business building designed by Roy Seldon Price, an architect who worked on La Casa Nueva. On the reverse of this are photos of the Read building exterior and interior, a list of officers and personnel of the company, a list of its specializations and a list of its "well-known" clients. When the map is opened to a half-fold, there is an alphabetical key to celebrity residences at the top of one side and a numerical key below this, as well as a statement by the company on their status as the first and largest of the developers in the city. When opened fully, the map has the name of the company at the top, the map name at the lower left with copyright dates of 1926 and the layout of streets from Wilshire Blvd. on the south to the top of the Beverly Terrace, Beverly Estates and Beverly Crest subdivisions on the north and from Benedict Canyon on the west to Doheny Drive on the east. Numbers on the map correspond to celebrity homes on the key on the reverse. In good condition, the map has some creases and light discoloration.
