Color: Blue; Brown; Green; Yellow
A color photograph of the artist's proof 15-piece tile panel "Big Fish," ca. 1990s. The pier scene shows a fisherman on the left, next to a wood structure, holding a long fishing pole in his right hand. Hooked to the end of the pole is a large blue fish. Another fisherman sits on a crate in the back center with a fishing pole over his shoulder. He has his right arm extended to a flock of seven seagulls on the right. In back of this, on the blue ocean which extends across the background, is a boat with three fishermen. Three more boats are in the distance along the line of the cloud-covered sky. The pale-colored sky and the shadows cast on the ocean and on the pier throughout mark dusk as the time of day. A small portion of the surface in which the panel was laid for photography is along all four sides. On the back top right corner in black ink is, "12." Made using the black-line technique, the finished panel was installed along the Via Casino in Avalon, Catalina Island. The image is unevenly cut along the top and shows some signs of handling, but is in good condition.
