Color: Black
A black cutaway coat, also called a morning coat, from a tuxedo ensemble, ca. 1920s. Made of wool with a silk lining, the item has tails at the back extending to knee-length, while the front is cut away at the waist in a curved line. The collar is wool, while the lapel is silk with thin vertical lines, as is the case with the inside front lining, where there is also a pocket on the left side. The inside back lining is a solid field of silk. At the front on each side are three ornamental buttons with checkerboard patterns. Toward the inner edge at the bottom of the front are stitched lines imitating button holes. On the sleeves are imitation button holes and one ornamental button, while the lining is white silk with lines of varying thicknesses. In fair condition, the coat has discoloration on the shoulders; fading on the shoulders and arms; losses and holes throughout, including the inner lining and back left shoulder; and pest damage in many places.Lexicon
