Description

Dress: Black silk satin dress. Dress is calf-length and has a dropped waist, long sleeves, and a lace collar. The alternating panels of black satin and black crepe that form the bodice creates a contrasting shiny and dull pattern. The bottoms of the long sleeves are crepe with a contrasting satin band and fasten with snaps. The bottom of the dress flares out below the waistline and has a deep pleat in the center front. The hem is finished with 1/4" piping. The machine-made lace collar outlines the "V" neck. Lace is discolored and slightly soiled. Discoloration is due to starch that was used to stiffen the lace. Lace collar looks strong but is very brittle and should be handled with extra care. Dress was worn by Irene Mabel Wadey. Overall physical condition and appearance of dress is good.
