Book, Swinton's Language Primer, ca. 1870s-1890s. This object was given spot and UV treatments for mold in 2024 and has been stored separately from the rest of the HM Collection. Included are lessons on sentence structures and more. The primer may have belonged to Adrian Temple and then possibly given to Thomas Temple. Inscriptions in the primer read "Teacher La Puente/Adrian Temple/La Puente School/Thomas Temple/La Puente/Potrero High Sch/Pansa" It is the poor condition with mold spots, pest damage, heavy abrasions and loss of spine. The book was given a treatment to remove the mold spores, including UV exposure. It was segregated from other the collection, bagged and stored in the West Building. The building has an HVAC system.
