Description

Color: Gold; Red "Boston: A Guide Book," (Boston: Le Roy Phillips, 1928), 157 pp. A hardcover book without a dustjacket and the cover in red. At the top of the front cover is the book title and author's name in gold lettering, under which is a scroll and floral design featuring a dome-shaped building--this is also in gold. The work is a tourist's guidebook to the city and its environs and includes sections about modern Boston; the metropolitan area, including outlying areas like Cambridge and Harvard University; public parks; nearby day trips, such as the harbor, Lexington and Concord, and the shore; trips by car and important points of interest. A foreword explains the structure of the book, while a brief introduction discusses the layout and orientation of the city. At the back is an index and many photographs, maps and drawings illustrate the work. In good condition, the flysheet at the front has ink stains and there are creases and dented corners to the cover.
