Description

BOX FOR A LADIES' WHITE STRAW HAT WITH FLOWERS AND FRUIT BAND Color: Brown; Green A box for a ladies' straw hat with a band of false flowers and fruit, ca. 1930s. The box is brown and has a string, which is to support the hat, laced through several openings in the box bottom and two of the sides. The string is laced in two flaps on a third side. On the top of the lid, which is part b), is a green-bordered field, within which, also in green, is the text "WRUBEL'S / MIDDLETOWN CONNECTICUT" with the text being in an Art Deco style, hence the estimated date. The hat is item .1 and the receipt is item .3 of this accession. With tape at several corners, slight warping, light soiling, light discoloration, major water damage to the top of the lid, and tears, the condition is fair.
