Description

Color: Blue; Orange; White A box that contained the four-reel motion picture "The Pinch Hitter," sold for home use by Pathex, 1926. The item has orange borders on all panels with blue lettering on white backgrounds. On the top and bottom panels is "ASK ANY PATHEX DEALER / FOR A CATALOG OF / MOTION PICTURES FOR THE / Pathex / Motion / Picture / Projector." Two of the side panels read "4 / REELS / MOTION / PICTURES / NON-INFLAMMABLE FILM / for / Pathex / Motion / Picture / Projector." A third panel reads "Pathex / MOTION PICTURE FILM / Charles Ray / IN / `The Pinch Hitter' / D-7 / 4 Reels." The final panel is titled "IMPORTANT" and gives instructions for threading the film onto the projector. All four complete reels, with nitrate-based film, were included with the box, are items 1.2 through 1.5, and are kept in refrigeration because of acetic acid off-gassing. With much corner rubbing and abrasions, dents and warping, surface soiling, browning, some smell from the film's acetic acid, stains, and edge tears, the condition of the item is fair.
