Description
Boxer Bert Colima and dancers or actors from the Mission Play, ca. 1920s. The well-known local pugilist, born Efraim Romero in Whittier, stands with a bevy of women in costumes with some if not all dancers, though there may have been some who were characters. The group stands in an open dirt area almost certainly near the playhouse at San Gabriel. On the reverse is the inscription, "Taken just after Bert Colima got knocked for a row—notice his eyes." With creases, some stains, soiling, and a small tear at the top, the condition is good.
