Color: Black; Brown; Orange
"Boy Scouts of the Air in Indian Land," by Gordon Stuart (Chicago: The Reilly & Britton Co., 1912), 240 pp. A hardcover book without a dustjacket, featuring the title in black and orange ink on the front cover within a brown band. Above and below the title is an image of two boy scouts climbing in an area with rocks and trees, while an airplane flies overhead at the upper left. On the spine is a similar layout: part of the title in orange letters in a brown band with the rest of the title, the author's name, and the name of the publisher at the center and lower parts and an airplane above. The story concerns a group of boy scouts in New Mexico and their adventures with Indians, forest fires and airplanes and has some black and white illustrations of scenes from the story. The book is one of a series called "Boy Scouts in the Air." In the back of the work are advertisements for other books for boys and girls. An inscription in pencil on the flysheet reads "To Walter / From his Aunt / Lillie." While the binding is good and the pages show little discoloration, the cover has some wear, particularly at the lower end of the spine and the corners and the book is in fair condition.
