Description

Color: Black; White A reproduction black and white photograph of Boyle Workman with his four nephews Henry, seated at left; Thomas E., Jr., standing at left; David, standing next to Boyle; and Richard, seated on his uncle's lap, ca. 1935. Workman and two of the boys are seated on a concrete bench on a patio or terrace, probably at Workman's Los Angeles home. He has a copy of his book, "The City That Grew", an autobiographical history of Los Angeles, open with the boys gathered around. Henry and Thomas, Jr. are holding copies of the book, as well. Parts of a low balustered wall, a tile floor, and some landscaping around the terrace are in the foreground and background, but little else of note is discernible. The date is determined from the publication date of the book and the ages of the children. As a newly produced photograph, the artifact is in mint condition. Number-Units: 1
