Description

Color: Brown; Green; Yellow Boy's cream colored gym shorts, ca. 1930s. There are two buttons on the left of the fly. The seam at the bottom of the fly appears to have been repaired numerous times. On the back along the waistband is an extension which has a cord in a knot. On the inside left of the waistband are the initials "G N." At the right of the initials is a white label which had the manufacturer's name in green and yellow thread, but much of the lettering has faded except for the words, "VARIETY / CORRECT CUT." The artifact, which is believed to have been used during Homestead's military school days in the early 1930s, was found in a previously-unknown crawlspace above Thomas Temple's Bedroom door along with a candy box which is item .2.1, and three walnut shells which are items .3.1-.3. With brittleness of the fabric; creases; discoloration; folds; holes; some pest damage; soiling; stains; and tears, the object is in poor condition.
