Brass box hook, date unknown. The item is made of brass with a hook on one end and a circular opening on the other. It is possible it was used to secure a gate, cabinet or as a box hook. The latch has accretion to the inner hook portion most noticably and throuhout the piece, numerous surface scratches. It is in fair condition.
