Description

Broadside for "El Poso Grande" subdivision, Los Angeles County, California, printed by Young & Arellanes, Santa Barbara, ca. 1880s. One side of the document has a description of the water supply for the tract and encouragement for purchasing desirable land there, as well as a general map of the tract, located south of Inglewood, and its proximity to Los Angeles, Redondo Beach, Gardena, and smaller settlements. There are some pencil inscriptions showing tracts, what seems to be a road and "624 acres / Freeman," meaning Daniel Freeman, likely to owner of the land before Hunt or owner of nearby property. The reverse has a tract map with thirty-two numbered lots and sixteen lots identified by letter, located next to the Los Angeles and Redondo Electric Car Line, as well as the name of the owner C. C. Hunt, of Santa Barbara. The item was tipped into an abstract of title for the Ranchos Centinela and Sausal Redondo, the latter of which included the El Poso Grande. With creases, dogeared corners, and soiling the condition is good.
