Entry/Object ID

Description

Color: Brown A bronze bookend, part of pair [see 95.12.1.2 for the other,] consisting of a bas relief broadside image of a Spanish galleon in full sail. The base of the bookend is shaped to look like water and has a rope trim around the edges. On the bottom of the base is felt padding. A bronze-type gilding is on the piece, but has corroded and worn off. Additionally, there are some traces of bronze disease. Aside from this, there appears to be little indication of wear or damage and the piece is in good condition.
