Description

A real photo postcard, "Brother Isaiah, The Miracle Man, Los Angeles, Cal, 6-21," by J.G. The image shows the faith healer dressed in white with flowing white hair and long beard holding his hands outstretched in what appears to be a rural area. John Cudney, a peddler of wood kindling from Canada, proclaimed himself the 88th and final incarnation of the prophet Isaiah, and performed miracles in New Orleans, Los Angeles, Seattle and other places. He was acquitted of manslaughter in Los Angeles during 1921 and left the city thereafter. Cudney died at age 90 in 1934 at Oroville. With much soiling, some stains and edge rubbing, the condition is fair.
