Description

Dress: Brown silk satin wedding dress. Dress is knee-length and has a dropped waist and long sleeves. There are three panels of box pleats below the dropped waist. The last pleated panel forms the hem. The long sleeves have beige crepe and lace cuffs and fasten with snaps. The same crepe and lace is used on the front of the dress as a decorative insert and is sewn behind the deep "V" front opening. A 22" long brown satin 1" wide tie is sewn at the back of the neck. Tie was made to hang down the back of the dress. Dress is fully lined with brown silk georgette. Wedding dress was worn by Irene Mabel Wadey in November, 1927 or 1928. The physical condition of the georgette is still strong but the outer silk satin fabric is badly shattered overall. Perspiration stains under the arms. Beige crepe and lace cuffs are badly soiled. Front insert is discolored and soiled at neckline. Brown satin is faded and soiled overall. Needs to be stored flat. Physical condition and appearance is poor.
