Description
Buchanan Elementary School, Eagle Rock/Highland Park, Los Angeles, 6 February 1916. The view shows students and others descending the steps from the main entrance of the two and a half story Mission Revivial style structure, which is in an empty field surrounded by some open land to one side, suggesting that the school was new. A flag pole is suspended from the upper story. On the reverse is an ink inscription identifying the school and giving the address as "N. Ave 50" and that "Geo here," meaning the owner's son. The school, now a K-5 math and science magnet school, still exists, although the structure there is from about the 1930s. With album tape residue, loss at top right possibly due to pests and some light soiling, the overall condition is good.
