Description

Color: Black; White A "Burpee Guarantee" insert to a garden catalog issued by the W. Atlee Burpee Co., 1928. The white paper has a black border with circular floral patterns, within which is the title "BURPEE GUARANTEE" at the top and the signature of a company official and the motto "Burpee's / Seeds / Grow" at the bottom. The guarantee is about "the vitality and purity of its seeds, roots, and bulbs to the full amount of the purchase price" and that the purchaser can have his/her money back if not satisfied at any time. The safe arrival of ordered products is also warranted. On the reverse is a checker's slip, in which the ordered items were checked and stamped in red ink on a box. The stamp reads "PATENTED SEED DEPT. 4 / CHECKER / 4 / FEB 10 1928." An explanation of the checking process is toward the bottom with the company name and headquarters below the statement. The right half of the document, from the guarantee side, has an acid burn and there is a crease at the upper left corner, but the document is in good condition overall.
