2007.22.1.1Description
"C.P. Ry. / Entrance to Los Angeles," by O.E. Tyler, ca. 1880s. The view, from the "Views of Los Angeles and Vicinity" series, shows a railroad track, with several men standing on it in the distance, wedged between a hillside and a river. This is presumably the Los Angeles River, but is not clear where and whether the orientation is to the north or south. Tyler's name and address are on one side of the mount with the series name on the other. The title is from and ink inscription on the reverse, with "C.P." standing for Central Pacific (Southern Pacific). With edge rubbing, especially on the corners, soiling, stains, and scratches, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
