Description

Cabinet photograph, a cafe interior, Los Angeles, California, ca. 1910. The image shows an interior view of an unknown cafe in Los Angeles. The cafe workers or the owners of the establishment are seen standing behind a counter. At the far left, is a woman seated on a chair, wearing an apron. She is standing in front of a register with two men along side her, wearing bow ties and suits. The counter has food products within a class cabinet, cherry pie slices on plates, napkins, condiments, and coffee or teacups turned upside down. Against the wall, behind the counter are canned and boxed products on shelves, beverage canisters, a metal fan, plates. In front of the counter are stools, linen covered tables with chairs. There is a kitchen door, and cold storage area. The flooring shows a possible black and white checkered pattern. There appears to be gas lightining fixtures with pipes running along the ceiling and wall. The reverse side has an inscription written in ink that states the location of the cafe as being in Los Angeles. The edges are worn, and there is light fading to the image. The upper portion of the photograph seems to have been cut off. There is a stain on the reverse side, upper right corner. It is in fair condition overall.
