Color: Black, brown
A Cactus Boot tire repair kit, ca. 1927. Manufactured by the Cactus Manufacturing Company of Los Angeles, the kit comes in a cylindrical cardboard tube, on which is an image of the "Kaktus Kid", a cowboy-like cartoon figure, standing next to a cactus plant, with an image of the product to the left. Above the image is the product name and the motto "Guaranteed Permanent Repair for Blow-Outs / BALLOON AND HIGH PRESSURE TIRES." Under the image is a certificate of guarantee, providing a 1000-mile warranty and giving the company name and address. Toward the bottom is a note that the "New label [was] adopted July 20, 1927." Below this is "Size No. 1" and "[P]rice $1.00." At the very top is "INSTRUCTIONS INSIDE--DO NOT A[torn off section here] CAREFULLY!" Because the product is still inside the package and the object is in fragile, it is not possible to give a description of the contents. With major acid and liquid stains; large tears at the top and bottom edges and smaller ones throughout; and dents, the artifact is in poor condition.
