Color: Black; Gold "California and Californios, Volume Five" edited by Rockwell D. Hunt (Chicago: Lewis Publishing Company, 1926), 536 pp. A hardcover book with a black cover, the title and volume number are located on the spine in gold lettering. Along the outside edges of the pages is a blue and gold marble design. Volume five, and the third with biographies in a five piece series, the book documents the history of California and its residents with biographical sketches of some of the state's most prominent people and places written by a special staff of writters; among those featured are William Randolph Hearst, Helen Hunt Jackson, and William Richard Rowland. Black and white photographs of many of the Californians and sites mentioned are also included among the text. With abrasions along the edges of the cover, and fading of the design on the edge of the pages, the book is in good condition.
