Description

CALIFORNIA COAST AND TRAIN FROM NEARBY HILLS, 1920s Color: Black; White A photograph by E. C. Engelhardt of a section somewhere on the California coast, 1920s. The view shows a train on a track at the water's edge, expanses of open land between the shore and the hill or mountain, on which Engelhardt was standing, a broad expanse of ocean; and offshore a few miles an island. It is possible that the view is somewhere near one of the Chanel Islands, perhaps between Ventura and Santa Barbara, but the location is not identified. There are also some small rocky outposts in the water, and narrow dirt roads near the coast. On the reverse center is the photographer's stamped name. Aside from some minor yellowing to the paper and slight soiling on the back, the item is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
