Description

Color: Black; Brown; Red "California Missions and Mission Sites Along the King's Highway in 1924," by Minnie M. Tingle (Los Angeles: T. R. Tingle, 1926), 26 pp. The book has a brown cardstock cover with the title and author's name along the left of the front in black. An illustration of a mission is in red and black within a square box at the right. A sepia photograph of the author and a title page are at the beginning. Also on the title page is a poem by the author entitled "El Camino Real." An introduction by Louise Woodward follows, in which she writes about the career of the author as an artist and poet dedicated to "landmarks of Christianity and Civilization." Contained in the book are Tingle's paintings in sepia of all twenty-one California missions along with a poem dedicated to each. In good condition, the artifact has only minor abrasions along the spine, small creases, light soiling, and some darkening of the pages.
