Description

"California Padres Wine Elixir Tonic" bottle from California Medicinal Wine Company/Vai Brothers, Los Angeles, ca. 1927. The empty bottle has a copper-colored screw-off camp, is of clear glass, and has a star design on the bottom. The label, largely intact, has an image of a priest surrounded by a border of wine grapes. There is also an image of a building with the manufacturer's name and product name on it. Information about the product, including its purported benefits, dosage, percentage of alcohol, and reference to a Probhibition-approved formula from October 1926 are also included. With its label missing sections and having much soiling, tears, and creases, the condition is fair.
