Forty-two (42) cancelled checks of Walter P. Temple drawn on Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co., Los Angeles, 1908. The date range of the items is from 23 January to 18 May and there is a check number range, but there are many missing items in this range. All but one are Metropolitan checks, with the sole exception being a check from The Merchants National Bank, but the institution's name is crossed out and, in Walter Temple's hand, the name of Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. is written above it. The checks are made out to individuals and businesses, many of which were in the area near where the Temples lived at Rancho La Merced. In general, the condition of these documents is good, with most having creases, slight discoloration, and ink stains primarily.Lexicon
