"Candles in the Home," a catalog issued by Standard Oil Company (Indiana), 1924. The 21-page pamphlet, printed in Chicago, has a blue cover and the front has a stylized border, within which is a white-background panel. On this panel is a candle type called the Amyrillis. The catalog title is at the lower right and there is a blue line and a stylized line at the left. On the reverse is the logo of "The Candle Shops of Standard Oil Co. (Indiana)" with a stamp for the Thomas Combined Stores of Warsaw, Indiana below. These are within a white-background panel with a less ornate border than on the front. A foreword on candle history, a statement on uses of them throughout the home, and seasonal uses is at the front. In the center are color illustrations of the candle line with numbers corresponding to differnt colors, sizes and designs for the several types, such as the Amaryllis and others. A description of the dozen or so different designs offered concludes the work, which is illustrated by black and white photographs of house room settings with candles in them. There are also some line drawings of such scenes. With small stains on the centerfold and last page, a large acid-stain at the right of the front cover, many creases on the cover and tears at their bottom edges, the pamphlet is in fair condition.Lexicon
