A black and white copy negative of the Casimir Didier store on south Main Street between 1st and 2nd streets in Puente, ca. 1900. The one-story brick building is shown with two large double-door entrances at the front and three arched windows on the left side. A picket fence surrounds a small plot of ground adjacent to the left side of the building. In front of the fence at the left of the photo are two boys, a girl, and a dog. On a wooden walk in front of the corner of the store are a woman, girl toddler, and young boy. At right in the street is a wagon pulled by two horses with a driver wearing a white apron. A sign on the wagon partially reads "Universal ------ Market." A wooden pole at front, was probably for electricity or telephone service. Behind the store can be seen a wooden gallows with a pulley on it and a water tower. Casimir Didier and his wife, Marie, uncle and aunt of Walter Temple Jr.'s wife, Nellie, are buried in the Homestead Museum cemetery. As a newly created copy negative of print 96.49.1.5, the artifact is in mint condition.
