Description

CATHOLIC PRIEST, PROBABLY AT UNIVERSITY OF SANTA CLARA Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of a Catholic priest, probably at the University of Santa Clara, ca. 1926. The cleric stands on a sidewalk in front of a plastered building with large rectangular windows, three of which are fully or partially visible behind the priest. He wears black attire and the white priest's collar. In his left hand held along his side are some papers and/or books. On the center of the reverse is a stamp in an oval shape with the words "ANDERSON / Photo Service / EL MONTE" within. The number "8" is stamped at the lower left corner of the reverse. See 65.2. for an image of Thomas Temple in the same location, indicating that it might have been his 1926 graduation from the university that was why the photo was taken. The top of the image has much water damage, including residue left from a mounting corner at the top left, so the object is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
