Description

Channel underpass at South Main Street near 107th Street, Los Angeles, Sydney A. Smythe, ca. 1920s. The view shows what appears to be new construction of a two-part channel with a concrete bed and walls flowing under Main Street. A man stands next to one of the channel courses and there is construction debris along the channel and at street level. Across the street are several commercial businesses, automobiles, power lines and other items. The photographer's embossed stamp is at the lower right and an ink stamp is on the reverse. With a small portion of the upper right corner missing, creases, soiling, and a small puncture mark at the right, the overall condition is good.
