Description

Charles Stern to Pleasant Valley Wine Company, 25 May 1889. The letter is a simple request for a shipment of wine to Stern's wholesale house in Boston. Of interest is the letterhead, which provides the names of Stern's previous companies: Perkins, Stern and Company from 1860-1878, born out a relationship with California wine makers Kohler and Frohling and which included the last two years, Leonard J. Rose of Sunny Slope ranch as partner and Stern & Rose, which lasted from 1878 until 1887 when Rose sold the Sunny Slope property and its vineyards and winery. Other than folds and light soiling, the condition is good.
