CHARLES TEMPLE, JR. WITH ARVELLA AND BONITA AT THEIR HOME
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of Charles Temple, Jr. with Arvella and Bonita at their home, ca. 1920s. The group is at the center posing by an automobile with Charles at the far right. He stands and faces to the left and wears a tie, collared shirt, dark-colored three-piece suit, and shoes. His left hand is on his waist and the right elbow is on the vehicles back window ledge. Arvella sits at the far left with Bonita on the car's sideboard. Arvella wears a white top, dark skirt, hose, and heels. Her hands are clasped on her lap and her eyes are closed. Bonita is at the middle and wears a long-sleeve dress, hose, and heels. Her hands are crossed on her lap and she smiles at the camera. The multi-passenger auto is parked facing to the left on the paved road and it has a spare at the front of the side. At the bottom of the front it has a license plate that reads, "2X 81 24 / CAL 31." The Spanish colonial home is at the top of the background on a knoll. Along the front it has two windows, with the second having an iron grate at the front. At the right of this is a porch with three square posts and two double-doors seen behind these. Along the top of the porch is part of the roof's tile. Written in blue ink along the bottom edge is, "Charles Temple Arvella and Bonita." Stamped at the bottom of the back is the number, "4313." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With some yellowing of the paper, the artifact is in good condition.
