Color: Black; Brown; Red; White
"Chicago Engineering Review," Vol. 8, No. 11-12, issued by the L. L. Cooke School of Electricity, March, April 1928. The 24-page magazine has a white paper cover with the title and price at the top of the front in black. Also at the top is the name of the school in red. At the center is a black and white drawing of a baseball player who leaps off a base to catch a ball in the glove he wears on the left hand. On his jersey are the initials, "L. L. C." In the background is a photograph of four Chicago Cubs' players during spring training on Catalina Island. On the bottom left corner are the words "Training First," and below this is a list of the artifact's contents. The date is in red on the opposite corner. At the beginning is an article entitled, "Training First!" which reminds readers that, much like baseball players, future electricians must take the time to train for a job. Some of the articles in the issue cover the electrical engineering behind the new Ford Model A; automobile maintenance tips; Samuel F. B. Morse, the creator of the telegraph; lighting in the home; transformers; railroad signaling; and more. At the end are letters from former students and news on electrical innovations, including television. The artifact has many black and white photographs and illustrations. With light creases and dents, soiling, and small tears and stains, the object is in good condition overall.Lexicon
