Description

CHRIS WALTERS TO WALTER AND LAURA TEMPLE, POSTMARKED 30 APRIL 1918 Color: Black; Gold; Red; White A postcard, sent by Christian Walters to Walter and Laura Temple, postmarked 30 April 1918. The front has a gold border, a black-lined field of white, a cartoon image of a man in a Colonial-era costume, with tricornered hat, waistcoat, and buckled shoes, and the greeting "How are / all the / Folks / at Home?" At the bottom left is "SERIES 6104." On the reverse is the message space at the left, with a pencilled note from Walters indicating that he would be in to visit the Temples. The address of the Temples is at the space to the right. A postmark stamp is from Menasha, Wisconsin, dated 30 April 1918. A one-cent postage stamp is at the upper right. Walters was the purchaser of the Temple Homestead, when Walter Temple sold it in 1912 after buying the Montebello Hills property that later became the Temple oil lease. With browning, creases, dented corners, and surface soiling, the condition is good overall.
