A Christmas and New Year greeting sample book, issued by the Standard Paper Company, 1926. Number 46 of the series, the artifact has a paper cover with a green floral border, within which is the year and title of the catalog, the logo for the Butler Brands of cards, and the motto "Scatter Sunshine with Greeting Cards" within a gold border. Pasted onto the inside front cover is a price list of the items, which are 100 in number and priced per 100 units. There is a separate listing for engraved and copper plate impressed cards with information on service and engraving. Samples follow with the cards pasted onto black paper with a thin divider sheet between each page. The first section shows styles of engraving and an explanatory note and key to styles on the black paper. The samples are in order from number 300 to 399, with a wide variety of styles, including interesting interior sections of the envelopes, with many colors and textures. The card scenes vary with the texture or paper design varying less widely. Binding is with a thin blue cord through three holes on the fold where the covers are joined. There are, however, some missing samples, as well as others which have separated from the pages and are loose parts a-e. The front cover also has some significant staining and soiling, as well as small tears and creases, mainly on the edges. The book is overall in fair condition, though the cards themselves are generally fine.Lexicon
