Color: Black; Green; Red; White
A Christmas postcard, with a message written 21 December 1913. The front has a textured border with small dots, within which is an off-white colored panel. At the left is a red box with sprigs of hollyberry around it and inside is a Medieval-style letter "M" to begin the message at the right, which reads "My best wishes for the happiest / Christmas that you have ever known, / And may this day and all your days / Be floded with the sunshine / of Love and Friendship." Blue and brown flourishes and coloring for capital letters of some of the words are notable. On the reverse is the word "POST CARD" at the top with a stylized vertical dividing line and notations on which side is for correspondence and which for addressing. At the left is the series number and type and the manufacturer's name and city of business. An owl logo is at the bottom left corner with the words "Gold Medal Art / Trade Mark." A 1-cent Canadian stamp with an image of King George VI and a postmark from Morrisbury, Ontario, dated 21 December 1913 are at the upper right corner. The card is addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. Ira Carman / Iroquois / Ont." On the correspondence side is "Morrisbury Ont. / Dec 21/13 / My best wishes / for you all. / Ethel C. Canelman [?]." There is some surface soiling, mainly at the lower left of the front and some edge and corner wear, but the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
