Description

CLOSE-UP OF LA CASA NUEVA LIBRARY DOOR TO THE COURTYARD Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of a close-up from the La Casa Nueva Library door to the Courtyard showing four authors, ca. 1980. There are six panels in the door, the middle two being clear glass with diagonal leading, forming diamond shapes. In a few places leading was added to create the illusion of repair. The other panels are etchings of authors with the top two being Miguel Cervantes, left, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, right. These are heavily darkened either by the available light or by the settings on the camera. At the bottom are John Milton, left, and William Shakespeare, right. All have identical round borders that look like vine leaves and banners beneath that have their last names. Each is shown in a head-and-shoulder view with the clothing styles of their time. Through the middle panels, though blurry and washed out by bright natural light, is a column in the courtyard portico and some of the landscaping there. Item .362 appears to be the same exact image. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
