Description

CLOSE-UP OF OIL WELLS IN THE EAST WINDOW, LCN MASTER BEDROOM Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of a detail from the La Casa Nueva Master Bedroom east french door window, showing oil wells, ca. 1980. The panel is one of six in the window and is the left image in the middle. Four wells are depicted with one at the front having a man working with a belt on a wheel for the drilling apparatus. Another man at one on the background left is working on a similar task, it seems. To the right and left are small one-story buildings, while there are two smoke stacks in the background right, apparently representing refining. A stream or river at right and mountains or hills at left in the background are also part of the image. It is thought this image represents the Temple oil lease in the Montebello hills. Around the image are thin pieces of glass as a border, while within the image some of the leading can be discerned. The wood frame of the door at right and left are in shadow because of the lighting. In good condition, the artifact shows little indication of wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
