Description

COLORED PENCIL DRAWING OF GABRIELA QUIROZ TEMPLE, CA. 1938 Color: Black, blue, green, red, white A colored pencil drawing of Gabriela Quiroz Temple, ca. 1938. Mrs. Temple is shown wearing a Spanish-style lace dress with shawl and mantilla--all in white with some light blue coloring on the dress and red lipstick and blush on her face and hands. She is seated in front of a piano and, in the background are some flowers in green and red, and other identifiable decorative features. At the bottom left is the inscription in pencil: "To a Sweet Gracious Lady-" and at the lower right in pencil is: "GRAZIELLA / JACOBY." The drawing, which may have been done at the time of her wedding to Thomas W. Temple II in November 1938, was matted to a piece of board and has a large number of pin holes at the bottom. There is also a heavy section of discoloration from exposure to the sun in the frame and the acidic nature of the paper, so the artifact is in fair condition.
