Description

COMPACTING TRENCH FOR NEW NORTH WALL FOOTING, EL CAMPO SANTO Color: Brown; Green A color polaroid photograph of the compaction of a trench for the footings of the new north wall of El Campo Santo, ca. August 1977. Taken from the west, the view shows a machine packing the dirt in at the bottom of the trench at center. The machine is at the left and the apparatus is an arm with a blunted steel tip to work the dirt. At the right is some landscaping next to the trench as well as some of the arbor vitae around the gated plot. An inscription in blue ink at the bottom of the artifact reads "Compancing Cemetery Wall / Footing prior To Pouring." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
