Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the western side of the Mission Walkway under construction, 28 September 1924, by Albert J. Kopec. Running from left to right across the center is the western side with the wall complete, except for the tiles at the top, a few of which have been laid (a ladder and scaffolding toward the right indicates where this work was being done.) Groups of these tiles are at the lower left foreground. The columns, made from half-round adobes are up and support boards run across the tops of these columns. Stacks of these boards are seen on the ground at center right, while some half-round adobes are at the center. Next to some columns at center are rectagular shaped items, which may be slabes of concrete or pieces of wood. At the left of these is a large pile of sand or dirt. In the foreground, at far left is a column on the south side of the walkway, by which the photographer was standing. On the reverse in pencil is the inscription: "Sept 28th" and below this a stamp reading "Kopec / L.A." With some stains from smudges on the front, mainly at the upper right corner, as well as the back and some denting to the edges, especially at the corners, the artifact is in fair condition.
