Description

Color: Brown The Consumers' Monument Company Catalog 26, 1927. The 191-page book has a brown hard-cover with raised lettering and designs of shields with the company's initials at the corners. Vines and two pillars flank the name of the company at the center. Below is an obelisk on clouds surrounded by rays and the words, "MANUFACTURERS OF / TIME PROOF MONUMENTS." On the bottom is the catalog number and company location. The title page has a red stamp on the bottom with the number, "374." At the beginning is a foreword; an explanation of the business' golden rule; explanation of the catalog; a description of the type of sale representatives; a guarantee; a tour of the departments in the company's factory; a description of Georgia Crystalline marble and how it is used in the making of memorials; how to beautify the cemetery lot; and a list of suggested epitaphs. Listed for sale are many marble slabs, headstones, and tablets accompanied by black and white drawings and photographs. Each also includes dimension numbers and a brief suggestion for appropriate use. There are many abrasions on the cover; surface soiling; dented corners; tearing of the fabric; stains; pest damage on the page corners; and foxing on the cover page, making the object in fair condition.
