Description
COVINA: CORNER OF CITRUS AVE. AND BADILLO ST., CA. 1910
Postcard: A color postcard of what appears to be the northeast corner of the intersection of Citrus Avenue and Badillo Street in Covina, ca. 1910. Seen at left is Citrus Avenue heading north toward the San Gabriel Mountains, seen in the distance. At center and right are a string of buildings on the eastern side of Citrus including the red brick Covina National Bank building at the corner. Awnings are seen on most of the structures. There are a number of horse-drawn carriages and automobiles parked on the street. At right is part of a Pacific Electric Railway car coming along Badillo Street from the east (the station was a block east.) An electric pole is seen behind the railway car. Because the electric railway reached Covina in 1908 and the streets there paved in 1911, the photo is dated circa 1910. The unused card, published in Gerrmany by M. Rieder Publishers of Los Angeles, is in good condition with some discoloration and mild edge wear.
